Todorhaus German
Shepherds
About Us. . . .
Todorhaus German
Shepherds was established in 1982. We bought our first pet Shepherd, a
sable male named Jecoda's Pecos Pete in 1977. We joined the German
Shepherd Dog Club of Minneapolis/St. Paul and the German Shepherd Dog Club
of America.
We started going to obedience classes and then we went to a couple of
breed classes.
We entered Pete in some local shows, both breed and obedience. In the
breed ring he came in dead last, but in the obedience ring he earned his
Companion Dog title in one show weekend. We were hooked!!
Our next Shepherd was a show puppy. Her name was Ch. Jecoda's Double
Trouble, CD, OFA, ROM. She was everything we had hoped for, and became our
foundation bitch. We only bred her three times. She produced six champions
and two major qualifiers. Our son, who was 12 at the time, took her to
obedience classes. He completed her Companion Dog title in four shows. She
was awesome in everything she did.
We breed our Shepherds for sound temperament, good health and longevity,
plus to be able to do what they were bred for - a working dog. We only use
dogs in our breeding program that are OFA certified.
We breed one or two litters a year. We feel that any more than that is not
fair to the puppies. They need lots of attention, and let's not forget the
older dogs. They need attention too.
Todorhaus has predominantly American lines, but occasionally we do breed
to German lines. We do a great deal of conformation showing, but our dogs
also work in herding, agility, and tracking, and I have always donated
some dogs to the service community. We do not donate to individuals, only
to the organizations.
Todorhaus lines have blacks, sables and the traditional black and tans.
